Fr Mateusz Szerszeń (CSMA)

Fr Matthew Szerszen CSMA is a member of the Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel. He was born in September 1987 and ordained to the priesthood at the Chapel of Blessed Aniela Salawa in Krakow, Poland on 24th May 2014.

Fr Matthew has an excellent command of English. He is a truly gifted Retreat Master, preacher and spiritual director at parish and religious communities. He is an outstanding author, writing many books for the Publishing House and Deputy Editor for a Polish version of The Angels magazine. His latest book in English 'The Special Entrustment to St. Michael the Archangel: with a nine-day preparation' is most popular.

He joined the Michalite Fathers in 2006 and completed his theological studies at the John Paul II Pontificate University in Krkaow and the Theological Institute of the Missionary Fathers. Following his ordination, Fr Matthew served in several parishes in London, Ontario, Canada.

Between 2014-2015 and 2017-2020 he was the parish priest of Our Lady Queen of Angels, Warsaw. He is fluent in English and Italian, and a great asset to pilgrims from 2016 -2017 when he worked as a confessor at the Shrine of St Michael the Archangel in Mont'Sant Angelo, Italy.

In addition to his pastoral duties, from 2020 he was editor of 'Who is like God' a polish bi-monthly magazine on St Michael and the angels, from 2023 he was appointed deputy editor-in-chief of this publication. He is a member of the Catholic Association of Journalists and contributes to Polish Catholic magazines, newspapers and online websites.

He leads Holy Spirit-infused inner healing retreats helping adults to move forward and deepen their spiritual and personal relationship with Christ; people immerse themselves completely into the Divine Mercy of God calling people to a renewal of heart and spirit.

Fr Matthew was well received on his Divine Mercy mission in 2024 in England, his ability to transmit Our Lord's message of Mercy through St Faustina's Diary and spirituality is inspired.
